Ros was a very active and popular member of AAC(UK), having been a Club member since 1990. Her friends have spoken warmly of her participation in a huge variety of Club activities, from meets in the UK to snowshoeing and hut-to-hut tours in the Alps. She also organised eight Corsica meets for members at the Feriendorf zum Storrischen Esel near Calvi; these were always very enjoyable trips and the accommodation and food were excellent.
She had a particular love of the Munros and climbed them all, from Beinn Liath Mhor to Schihallion, the latter done in style with her friends and family in attendance and a bottle of Champagne served on the summit. Many of the Munros were climbed with Olive McCann and other AAC(UK) members.
As one friend said, “I have many very fond memories of Ros particularly of her cheerfulness, Ros was just such a very nice person to be with.” This view was echoed by others who also spoke of her wide range of interests and expertise. She was a highly skilled seamstress and constructed lots of beautiful soft furnishings, making small gifts for AAC(UK) colleagues. She was a very knowledgeable mountain walker and loved wildflowers and birds. Another friend said “It was always good to share a tent with Ros, as she swept it out meticulously before it was folded. She was also my ‘go to’ advice person when cooking on the UK Meets, and always carried the makings of glühwein for our members."
The last AGM she attended was Mount Cook in the Peak District, in November 2019. She will be sadly missed, and the Club’s condolences go to her husband, Martin Adams.
