In this issue our focus is on our younger members. We have Luke Sedman (12) writing about a family trip to Austria; George Brown (15) describing his progress on his journey to be a champion ski racer; and Ross Carson (13) providing the lead item on the Family Bergfest in July. There is a sprinkling of contributions from other youthful authors as well, depending on your definition of ‘youthful’ – does Gordon Kettle (84) count as ‘young at heart’? Judge for yourselves!
We also have a selection of reports on Club-sponsored training activities including Fear of Heights; Klettersteig; Tour Leaders; and WELTbewegend courses on alpine skills. Just scan the Calendar in this issue, and keep an eye on the website, for opportunities to expand your horizons.
We always welcome newsletter contributions from members of any age and we would like to see a greater diversity of topics covered. Quoting from a recent e-News, “we’d like to expand the content to include articles on safety, navigation, gear maintenance, book reviews…or maybe you just have a good story to tell. Whether you’re a novice writer or an experienced scribe we’d love to hear from you; there’s nothing like seeing your work in print.”
We are also interested in whether you are happy receiving the newsletter on paper or whether you would prefer to see it in a digital format as an alternative. We will be seeking your views in due course, but you can already experiment by reading digital copies of every newsletter going back to 2014 on the Club website. Try it out!
