This super little hut has maintained the Gemüütlichkeit tradition over many years. It is currently enjoying increased popularity and something of a renaissance due to the hut’s inclusion in the 6 day Gschnitztal Runde tour.
Built in 1928, by the Nocker family from Trins, this two storey shingle clad hut enjoys a relaxed atmosphere since it is not on any of the main hut to hut routes.
Because of the hut’s location on a ring contour, the hut enjoys stunning 360° panoramic views. If you have time visit the Blaser Spitze 2241m summit, just 15 minutes walk from the hut, where there is a panoramic signboard pointing out all the mountains near and far. The near horizon is dominated by the limestone peaks of the Serleskamm ridge particularly Serles (2718m, the peak clearly visible from Innsbruck railway station) and the Kirchdach Spitze (2840m), the peak with the so-called church roof and spire, toward the limestone giants of the Tribulaun group, the snow-capped peaks of the Stubai Alps and the more distant peaks of the Dolomites.
The hut is popular with day visitors who are prepared to make the two hour trek from Trins village. For those starting out on the Gschnitztal Runde Tour, it is more than likely that you will have the hut to yourselves once the sun has gone down, to enjoy the hut’s rustic charm and perfect views of the night sky.
Members looking for alternative hut to hut tours off the beaten track would do well to consider the Gschnitztal Runde tour. The tour is relatively new, and circumnavigates the Gschnitztal valley following the natural lines of the Serleskamm Ridge and peaks of the Tribulaun. The tour passes through some truly spectacular challenging limestone scenery with the opportunity to bag some peaks along the way, visiting some of the very best huts.
