This was held in Derbyshire in early November, at Mount Cook Adventure Centre near Matlock. The Centre proved to be great spot for outdoor sports, and a welcoming venue for 150 people to gather and socialise, with room for 130 at the dinner and over 100 sleeping in bunk rooms and ‘pods’. As well as an EGM, the AGM and Dinner, there were seven organised walks, rock climbing, mountain biking, scrambling and caving groups, and courses on first aid, navigation, using transceivers, and a presentation and training on using the new app alpenvereinaktiv.com We could walk from the door of the centre, and the weather was pretty kind.
Guests of honour for the weekend were Bart Vercruyssen from the Flanders section, and Georg Rothwangl, the ÖAV’s expert in developing electronic resources, and promoter of the new app.
Graham McIntyre (Treasurer) and Philippa Carling (Secretary) retired after 9 years’ sterling service. After changes to the Articles and Bye-Laws were agreed at the EGM, Janet Britnell (Hut Fund) and Mike Garrett (IT) were allowed to be re-elected. Since 2018 Mike had also been Acting-Chairman in the absence of a Chairman.
The following people were elected: Tony Cooper (Chairman), Tim Morley (Vice-Chairman and Risk Management), Nigel Phipps (Treasurer) and Diana Rayner (Secretary) plus four new directors, Mark Adams (Climate Change), Liam Collins, Trevor Smith, and Simon Walters.
