AAC Hat Knitting Instruction

Material: 100 g green, 50 g white, 50 g yellow and 50 g black. Thickness of needles: size 3. Double-knitting wool or 5-ply.

Tension: 40 stiches = 14.5 cm. 14 rows = 3.5 cm.

Instruction (55cm circumference)

You start with 148 stitches plus 2 stitches for the border. Knit 18 rows in stocking stitch ending with a purl row, but always knit the edge stitches. Work the motif from the chart (50 rows). Work 3 rows for short hat or 7 for longer one. Starting with a knit row decrease as follows. Slip 1, knit 2 tog and pass slip stitch over. (Work 22 stitches Knit 3 tog.) repeat 6 times. Purl next row. (work 20 stitches knit 3 tog) repeat 6 times Continue decreasing like this until 18 stitches remain. Pull yarn through stitches and fasten off. Sew back seam. Line with fleece to make wind proof if liked and make pompom to decorate if desired.
