Let me introduce myself. I am Matt Nobles, the North West Day Walks Coordinator.
For some time now, monthly day walks have successfully run for the South-East of England. You might be surprised to learn that the highest concentration of AAC(UK) members is in the North-West region. It would be great if we could get a similar monthly walks and activities programme up and running for this area, especially as it contains so many mountain and upland areas (the definition of the North-West will be a wide one, to include Snowdonia, the Lakes and the Peak District).
For a regular programme of walks and other activities, we firstly need some volunteers to step forward - you may well have a favourite place or walk that you would love to share with others, or an "outdoor" skill that would be of interest to others. We also need suggestions as to the types of activities likely to attract members to attend. Some that immediately spring to mind are: family walks, dog friendly walks, geology walks, wild camping, scrambling, bush craft, mountain biking. Please do let me know of any suggestions you have. If there is sufficient interest there is usually the expertise available to make them happen.
I've made a start with a wild camping meet next summer, and I am working on a cycling meet, but there's lots more to do.
